Biggest Telegram Channels by Subscribers: Top 20 as of September 2026, and How We Count
The 20 largest Telegram channels among the 13 million we track, with subscriber counts and snapshot dates; what kinds of channels fill the top (mini-app games, proxies, Telegram's own), what we exclude and why, and why a subscriber count alone is a weak measure.
Telegram does not publish a ranking of channels, so any list of the biggest ones comes from someone's own database. This is ours: the 20 largest public channels among the roughly 13 million we track, with the subscriber count and the date we last recorded it. We refresh it monthly. Below the table: what fills the top, what we leave out and how to read the numbers.

What fills the top#
By channel title and our automatic labels, the top 20 is not the list most people expect:
- Communities of crypto mini-app games. Hamster Kombat, Blum, tapswap, Notcoin, Catapult Extreme, SEED, CATS, DOGS, Tomarket — announcement and community channels of tap-to-earn games.
- Telegram's own channels. Telegram News, Telegram Tips and Telegram Premium, and the personal channel of Pavel Durov.
- Proxy channels. Three channels are proxy channels by title: Proxy MTProto, iRo Proxy and a second Proxy MTProto.
- Persian-language channels. At least four of the 20 are in Persian: trading signals, breaking news and two of the proxy channels.
What we leave out#
To keep the list honest we apply three rules, and we say so:
- Duplicates. One channel can appear under two spellings of its username, or as a near-identical mirror; we count it once.
- Gambling and adult channels. We do not put them in a ranking. Telegram bans gambling advertising in every cabinet, and we would rather not promote such channels.
- Channels without a recent snapshot. A channel needs a dated recording from the last 14 days. One large channel with no dated recording is not in the table.
Read the number with care#
A subscriber count says how many accounts joined, not how many read. Rapid growth from referral programmes can leave a channel with a large number and a small audience, and we do not rank by post views because they can exceed the subscriber count. The checklist for judging a channel shows which signals to compare, and how to check a channel before buying an ad covers labels and payment safety.
Our database is large but not complete, so this is "the biggest we track", not a verified world ranking.
FAQ#
What is the biggest Telegram channel? In our data, as of 29 September 2026, it is Hamster Kombat Announcement, with 20,735,268 subscribers.
Where does the data come from? From our public API: the latest snapshot of each channel's public subscriber number, with the date it was recorded.
Is this an official ranking? No. Telegram publishes none. It is ours, based on the channels we track.
Why are some large channels missing? We exclude duplicates, gambling and adult channels and channels without a recent snapshot, and our database does not cover every channel.
How often is the list updated? Monthly. The date of the data is at the top of the table.
